Announcement - OMC2020 has been postponed

The organising committee has had to make the difficult decision to postpone OMC2020 as a result of the ever worsening COVID-19 situation. There are numerous travel bans in place in Australia and around the world and the Australian Government has prohibited indoor atherings of over 100 people. We are very sorry about this, but the April - July period is expected to be the coronavirus infection peak in Australia and the safety and well-being of our delegates and sponsorship partners must be our priority.

On a positive note, the committee has agreed to reschedule the meeting for Sun 28th Nov – Wed 1st Dec, 2021 (OMC2021; i.e. NEXT YEAR) at the same venue (University of Wollongong). While we understand that this is quite a way off and that there are many uncertainties we think that the postponment will be sufficient for the situation to normalise.

Welcome to OMC2020

Welcome to the joint meeting of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) Organic Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology divisions. Located at the University of Wollongong, we have a fantastic program of speakers representing industry and academia including a Diversity in Chemistry Symposium to open our event.
Scientific Program
With more than 350 delegates expected, and 30 plenary/keynote presentations the meeting will span all aspects of organic/medicinal chemistry and chemical biology practiced in Australia and around the world.
In addition to a full program of scientific and social/networking events, there will be time to explore Wollongong and surrounding areas while building relationships.
The Venue
Wollongoing is a short trip by train or car from Sydney and is in the heart of the NSW surf coast. It has a vibrant beach and food culture. The conference will be held on the beautiful UOW campus which is located less than 5 minutes drive from the heart of Wollongong, with various accomodation options serviced by a free campus shuttle

COVID-19 Situation

The organising committee are very conscious of the potential threat of the COVID-19 virus and are constantly reviewing the situation. The wellbeing of delegates is of paramount importance and actions will be taken to ensure that delegates are not exposed to harm at the conference

At the moment the conference is planned to take place as scheduled.
